Our journey begins in Lhasa, the historic capital of Tibet, located at an altitude of 3750 meters. Here we will gradually acclimatize and get acquainted with the main sanctuaries of the city.
We will visit the Jokhang Temple – the most revered temple in Tibet, and also perform a kora around the Barkhor square together with Tibetan pilgrims.
One of the first places on the route will be Samye Monastery – the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet, built in the 8th century.
Then our path continues through the sacred places of the Tibetan plateau.
We will visit:
- Tsurpu Monastery – the seat of the Karmapa
- The sacred lake Namtso
- Tashilunpo Monastery in Shigatse – the seat of the Panchen Lama
- The ancient Shalu Monastery
- Sakya Monastery, one of the most important centers of Tibetan Buddhism
The journey passes through the vast high-altitude plateaus of Tibet, where nomads roam, herds of yaks graze, and panoramas of Himalayan peaks open up.
Sacred Lakes.
One of the most powerful points of the route will be a visit to the sacred lake Manasarovar. In Hindu and Buddhist tradition, this lake is believed to symbolize the purity of the primordial mind. Nearby is the mystical lake Rakshas Tal, which in the Tibetan tradition symbolizes the other side of energy – the power of transformation.
After this, we arrive in Darchen, the starting point for the Kailash Kora.
Kora around Kailash. The Kora is a circumambulation of the sacred mountain. For Tibetans, this is one of the most important acts of spiritual practice – a path of purification and inner renewal.
The Kora route takes three days
